Morphological Syntax
Can you believe that morphological syntax was the placeholder text for this blog?
Yeah, I thought that was pretty funny, so I thought I’d write a blog about it — it seemed like a good topic.
So this is what I think about it. First off, it’s not a friendly term. Anyone who throws this at you in conversation sounds like a barrel of laughs and a cue to refill your drink, it might be a long night.
But on further reflection, it seems like a terribly formal term for such a sympathetic relationship. Intertwined, interbound, interdependent. A little further reflection later, and I realized the partner connection between morphological syntax and media productions. Each part supporting the next, each part integral for the successful impact of the other.
Base units of each department coming together to make sense of an idea, a concept, all to build a story. Break it down further and we’re looking at synthesis: synchronized and changing shape.
I guess it’s basically synchronizing shape with meaning.
All part of the same communication tree, which makes sense that they’d choose to place these words on the test page of a blog that one day should be written.
Morphology, the structure of words, of which morpheme is the smallest unit .
Syntax the structure of sentences, of which the smallest unit is a word.
No wonder some conversations go round in circles.
Morphological syntax, it’s got a nice ring to it.
